On Thursday 16th February 2017 5th and 6th students from Howth Road NS took part in the Fair Play Soccer Tournament in Clontarf Astro pitches which was organised by An Garda Síochána and the FAI. It wasn't the best of days weather wise but that didn't seem to bother any of the children involved. It was a well organised tournament with nearly 30 teams, boys and girls, competing on the day. The boys team gave it their all but luck was not shining on them on the day as they were like a team of Picassos, drawing all day. They were very unlucky to not come away with a win in their matches as they displayed some great skills and heart on the pitch. The girls team put in a great effort and had some wins, some loses and some draws. Although they did not win the soccer tournament itself, they won the overall prize which was the Fair Play award. This was through their respect and sportsmanship shown throughout the day towards the referees, opposition and each other. They were very deserving winners of this award and made the school very proud in achieving this.
It was a great day all round with every student showing great sportsmanship through the day.
